Mr Bal Krishna Mandal – Non Executive Director
Battle For Blindness

Bal Krishna Mandal’s journey is a testament to resilience and a deep commitment to empowering others. Losing his eyesight at the tender age of four due to untreated chickenpox, he faced immense challenges. Limited financial resources left him unable to access timely medical care, leading to the loss of his vision. This life-altering event thrust him into hardship, eventually causing separation from his family.

A turning point came when a friend informed him that blind people could read. Determined to reclaim his life, he moved to Delhi and studied in Braille. After schooling in 1984, he graduated in 1996 and pursued a master’s degree. However, financial constraints again interrupted his dreams, forcing him to halt his education and plunging him into despair.

Despite these setbacks, Mr. Mandal found solace in worship and turned his pain into a purpose. Embracing that his struggles could inspire change, he dedicated his life to supporting others facing similar challenges. Drawing from his personal experiences of loss and hardship, he began working closely with the visually impaired, understanding their struggles and striving to improve their lives.

As the Non Executive Director of Battle For Blindness, Mr. Mandal leads with empathy, passion, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the visually impaired community, ensuring that no one is left behind in their pursuit of a better life.

Mr. Mandal wants to create a world where no one will be discriminated against based on their disabilities. He is a burning example for all these girls who want a better life for themselves. Over the years, these girls have secured jobs in banks, hospitals, and the education sector too. Many have started their own families. Mr. Mandal wishes to build a better place for many more visually challenged girls where they can stay safe and fulfill their dreams. But that won’t be possible without your help.
