Great achievements rarely happen alone. For Simu Das, a talented cricket player and part of the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, the turning point was not only her talent but the opportunities she received at the right time.

Simu was born blind, abandoned by her father, and raised in extreme poverty. Amid hardship, Simu found joy in cricket—even though she could not see the ball.

As she grew older, she came across institutions that supported visually impaired girls, eventually leading her to The Battle for Blindness Foundation in New Delhi. Under the leadership of Mr. Ram Kumar, the organisation offered her something she had never known—stability, dignity, and a path forward. For Simu, the Foundation became more than a shelter. It became her launchpad.
